First, read 7. Hair Colour. You can create outward perceptions of yourself quite easily by the way you dress, the way you carry yourself, the way you do your hair. Think about it. You can create yourself the way you want to be.
When I went red back in ’98, my world changed. It changed because I wanted it to. I wanted to have the qualities I saw in a fictional character and I took one simple step – dying my hair – to get them. It didn’t work out the way I’d imagined, but it certainly sent me off in that direction.
Several times I tried going back to blonde, but it’s a bitch to get the red out, so I kept it up until moving to a sunny place that made it virtually impossible due to fading issues. So yes, I am blonde again and I still have the qualities acquired as a redhead. The presence I have and the respect I receive have always been mine – they just needed a little boost to take hold and come to light.
If you can imagine yourself in a better situation, feeling more confident, then take the steps to get there – that’s the point of 7. Hair Colour. Break the rules, break a habit, shock your system, do things differently so you have no choice but to create that better situation. It can be incredibly simple, but so hard to do.
Do us all a favour and shake things up with your own altered perception.
