It’s All About Love

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Since it is Valentines Week, it seems only fitting to talk about love. 101 Reasons to be Yourself happens to have chapters on love, bliss, passion, joy and a whack of other topics along those lines. Today, I’m breaking the free page pattern by skipping right to 78. Love. Time permitting, I’ll post related pages throughout the month in celebration of the Valentines theme.

#78. Love, is not so much about your outer relationships, but about the relationship you have with yourself, which is where it all begins. Love yourself first and other people will catch on to your good vibes. From there, it’s up to you how to proceed. It doesn’t matter whether you are in a relationship or not. Falling in love with yourself helps you to be more forgiving, more passionate, more aware, more creative and more loving towards others. Bad vibes bounce off, negative emotions are brushed away and the beauty of you and your life come to the forefront.

Love and gratitude are so close as to be almost the same thing. Think about it. When you are grateful for who you are and what you have, you automatically become more loving with yourself and others.

Stop beating yourself up over the mistakes you’ve made, the holiday weight gain, the problems in your relationships, financial troubles. Everything happens for a reason, and I think that reason is to teach us about love. The more we focus on the good things about our environment and ourselves, the more we do to make our lives even better.
